BASIS

BASIS

Founded in 1998 by economists Michael Block and Olga V. Block in Tucson, BASIS began with a clear goal: to challenge students academically and prepare them for university and life beyond school. Their approach combined a demanding curriculum with teachers who genuinely cared about student success. At BASIS Prague, students now follow the same rigorous curriculum used in the US network. Benchmark tests from 2024 showed that BASIS Prague students perform at a similar level to their peers in American BASIS schools, especially in math and science. The Elementary School will move to the new campus in September 2026, with the High School opening in September 2029. The renovated main building will include specialized classrooms, laboratories, and a library, while the new expansion will feature a gym and core classrooms. The campus will also have a large garden with an outdoor auditorium, playground, and dining terrace.

Duhovka High School

Duhovka High School

Duhovka High School is a private Czech-English grammar school in Prague 7 that offers both an eight-year full-time programme and a four-year distance study option. The school follows Montessori principles and focuses on respect, cooperation, creativity and personal responsibility. Teaching is divided into three stages: learning theory, applying knowledge in practice, and presenting students’ own conclusions. Students study in both Czech and English, with many subjects taught by native speakers. English is used as a natural communication tool throughout the school. In the final years, students can prepare either for the Czech Maturita or the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate diploma. The eight-year programme is designed for students aged 11 to 19 and combines subjects through practical projects, mixed-age groups and student choice. The school also offers a four-year distance study programme for older students who want to complete high school remotely.
